Power Hour Homework Help and Tutoring - 4:30-5:30 pm Monday-Thursday during the school year
STRIDE Academy - An online program in which students earn coins by answering Common Core aligned questions in math or reading. These coins can be exchanged for time playing games. At our Club, we split into teams for a little fun competition!
STEM Mentoring- STEM Mentoring is a curriculum-based group mentoring program that uses hands-on activities to teach kids about science, technology, engineering, and math. Each mentor will be matched with 4 mentees (ages 6-9), and they will work together on various projects and fun lessons. We offer two identical sessions (Mondays and Thursdays) from 5-6. So, to clarify, it's only one day a week, not both! The program runs from Feb-Nov 2016. Our first module is a partnership with Jr. First Lego League, and each group will work on building a mechanical Lego model that demonstrates what happens to trash after we throw it away. The second module is a partnership with the Cal Ripken Foundation, and uses sports to teach math skills. The third module takes a look at endangered species, and shows us a few things we can do to help protect them. The first session is Feb 8th/11th (depending on whether you attend on Mondays or Thursdays).
Enrichment Activities - During Power Hour, members who do not have homework participate in other educational activities, such as Science Lab, Culture Corner, and Arts & Crafts, History, and Fitness Labs.
